Working field:
The position holder is responsible for several research projects in the field of fungal-based biomaterials. The main research topics are:
- Use and further development of bioinformatics and systems biology methods (at DNA, RNA, protein and metabolite level) for the production and modelling of biomaterials from fungi
- Production and modification of biomaterials from fungi by controlled liquid and solid bioreactor cultivation and downstream processing
- Optimisation of growth processes and material properties by molecular tools of synthetic biology
Requirements:
- Degree in natural sciences or engineering with a biotechnological focus, doctorate in the fields of genetic modification and bioreactor cultivation of fungi // Optimisation of fungal cell factories
Desired knowledge and skills
- Very good written and spoken German and English
- Publication experience and experience in obtaining third-party funding
- Experience in supervising student theses
- Experience in collaborating on joint projects
