Working field:

The position holder is responsible for several research projects in the field of fungal-based biomaterials. The main research topics are:
  • Use and further development of bioinformatics and systems biology methods (at DNA, RNA, protein and metabolite level) for the production and modelling of biomaterials from fungi
  • Production and modification of biomaterials from fungi by controlled liquid and solid bioreactor cultivation and downstream processing
  • Optimisation of growth processes and material properties by molecular tools of synthetic biology
The position holder is entrusted with the implementation of third-party funded projects (individual and collaborative projects) including supervision of doctoral, master's and bachelor's theses.

Requirements:

  • Degree in natural sciences or engineering with a biotechnological focus, doctorate in the fields of genetic modification and bioreactor cultivation of fungi // Optimisation of fungal cell factories

Desired knowledge and skills
  • Very good written and spoken German and English
  • Publication experience and experience in obtaining third-party funding
  • Experience in supervising student theses
  • Experience in collaborating on joint projects
