The Department of Transportation Systems Planning and Transport Telematics Telematics
(VSP) deals with the modeling and simulation of transport, evaluation of transport projects,
analysis of innovations such as autonomous driving / mobility-as-a-service, and sustainable
design of transport systems. For this purpose, we develop an open-source software for
agent-based simulation of transport systems (www.matsim.org), which we continuously
improve together with a community of international partners according to the latest
software standards (Git; continuous integration, cluster computing...).

Working field:

  • collaboration in various research projects in the field of modeling CO2-free traffic and autonomous vehicles
  • collaboration at the department in both research and teaching
  • further development of the transport simulation software MATSim especially with respect to parallelization and high performance computing
  • cooperation with national and international partners

Requirements:

  • successfully completed academic university studies (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science studies
  • working experience in software development
  • very good knowledge of the programming languages Rust and Java
  • good knowledge of analysis software, e.g. Python
  • very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken
  • very good MATSim knowledge
  • interest and knowledge in the field of transport planning
  • clearly recognizable structured and process-oriented way of working
  • good analytical skills, ability to work in a team
  • organizational skills, communication skills and assertiveness.
  • experience with using versioning and shared programming infrastructures, e.g. Git/GitHub or SVN
  • experience with larger programming projects
