The chair of "Information Systems Engineering (ISE)" under the direction of Prof. Dr.-ing Stefan Tai teaches and conducts research in the area of quality-driven, continuous engineering of future-oriented distributed software systems, with a focus on cloud-native architecture and engineering, blockchain-based solutions, and privacy engineering.

Working field:

In the research project "TEADAL" (Trustworthy, Energy-Aware Federated Data Lakes Along the Computing Continuum) within the Horizon Europe funding program, we at ISE explore together with 17 other European partners from industry and research the energy-efficient and trustworthy operation of highly distributed data lakes in the cloud edge continuum to enable profitable data exchange in areas such as medicine, finance, industry, telecommunications, and agriculture. Our goal is to investigate the technical and design challenges of the different emerging platforms of the cloud continuum. In particular, we focus on the selection or development of appropriate means and tools to enable private, trusted, and sustainable application systems in this next generation cloud.

We are looking for two research assistants (d/m/w) for passionate and innovative research and development in the area of cloud systems and smart, secure applications.

The opportunity to do a doctorate is given and explicitly encouraged.

The project-related knowledge transfer and the subject-specific exchange with renowned partners in industry and science, also within the framework of ongoing national and European lighthouse projects in the field (e.g., in the project family "GAIA-X 4 Future Mobility"), is made possible.

Requirements:

  • Successfully complete university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in information technology, business information technology, industrial engineering with a specialization in Computer Science, or a related field of study.
  • Knowledge in the development and operation of distributed systems
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following areas is desirable: cloud/fog/edge computing; Blockchain technologies and applications; privacy preserving technologies and applications; secure multi-party computation; machine learning models and system; observability of distributed applications
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team, independent working style, high motivation
  • Very good knowledge of the English and good knowledge of the German language
