Project work within the "Einstein Research Unit - Perspectives of a quantum digital transformation: Nearterm quantum computational devices and quantum processors" of the Berlin University Alliance. As part of the work, innovative and scalable quantum circuits with high quantum functionality are to be developed and researched. The tasks include the design and development of integrated quantum circuits based on semiconductor quantum dots integrated into on-chip waveguide structures. The aim is to produce modular, fully integrated quantum circuits deterministically with extreme process control in a scalable approach in order to achieve optimal performance for applications in photonic quantum computing. In addition to the technological work, (quantum) optical studies on the developed nanophotonic structures and components form a further focus of the work. For example, experiments on boson sampling and optical quantum gates will demonstrate the functionality of the developed circuits. State-of-the-art research infrastructure is available for the technological and experimental work involved in national and international collaborations. The tasks also include the supervision of Bachelor and Master students as well as doctoral students, the acquisition of third-party funded projects, the management of third-party funded projects as well as activities in advanced internships and seminars in nanophotonics.
Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in physics, preferably with in-depth knowledge and experience in the development, fabrication and characterization of nanophotonic devices using modern clean room technology and innovative measuring technology, in nanophotonics and in experimental quantum optics; strong interest in novel approaches and research questions in integrated quantum optics, photonic quantum technology and nanotechnology; special qualification of scientific aptitude, which is usually proven by an outstanding doctoral thesis; very good knowledge of English, good command og German; Experience in interdisciplinary cooperation in international research projects, in project management and an excellent list of publications are desired.
