Working field:

The Einstein Research Unit Climate and Water under Change (CliWaC) is a transdisciplinary research initiative of the Berlin University Alliance to address water-related risks under climate change. CliWaC will bring together social and natural science as well as practical expertise from stakeholders to support the governance of mitigation and adaptation measures in response to climate change. This position will contribute mainly to work package ‘WPA1: Projected change of climate, extreme rainfall and water resources’ and ‘WPB3: Water resource management’ of CliWaC and deals with the analysis of flash droughts, rainfall frequency changes and the modelling and feasibility study of in situ and ex situ rainwater harvesting in rural and urban areas.   • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) and PhD in hydrology, geoecology, ecoloy or environmental science
Criteria that must be met:
  • Knowledge in hydrological modelling and data analysis
  • In-depth knowledge in R, Phython or comparable
  • Knowledge in big data analysis
  • Very good knowledge of English; Basic German knowledge

Criteria that should be met:
  • Basic knowledge in dryland hydrology
  • Basic knowledge in rainwater Harvesting
  • Basic knowledge in soil-hydrological or plant-water availability modelling
