As a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, the HZDR employs about 1,400 people. The Center's focus is on interdisciplinary research in the areas energy, health and matter.
The HZDR is committed to offer outstanding junior researchers (f/m/d) the opportunity to establish their own HZDR Junior Research Groups. The HZDR supports the candidate (f/m/d) with a yearly funding in order to build an early scientific career. The program runs for three years (followed by a midterm evaluation), with the option of an extension by two years or a tenure track position in case of proven scientific excellence. The funding will be granted for one applicant per year.
HZDR Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/d)
Outstanding postdoctoral researchers (f/m/d), who received their PhD degree not longer than six years before their application. Periods of childcare can be considered by up to two years per child.
The scientific work has to fit to the overall strategy of the HZDR and the hosting institute.
Candidates (f/m/d) who have proven their excellence by excellent publications, third-party funding acquisitions, international cooperation and technology transfer activities can apply.
For our pre-selection, please submit the following documents:
Scientific pre-proposal (two pages), if possible, including your potential scientific host scientist and the strategic contribution to our centre
Motivation letter (1 page)
CV, including the exact date of the PhD certificate
Scientific publication list with impact factors and citation record
For the second round (if the candidate (f/m/d) is selected), the following additional documents will be required until the end of November 2021: Scientific work program (five pages), the planned cooperation with a partner university (teaching) and at least one support letter. The application documents for the second round have to be prepared and submitted in accordance with the respective host scientist(s) (f/m/d) and institute director(s) (f/m/d).
