The applicant will work within a research project funded by the BMBF to support and establish a remediation process for eutrophic urban and industrial lakes. The focus is on the investigation of microbial processes at the molecular level by means of laboratory and field experiments. The aim of the research is to analyze the effects of the applied method on the microbial sediment communities and on transformation processes of organic and inorganic pollutants. This shall contribute to an optimization of the remediation procedure and a better understanding of the underlying processes at the microbial level.
The research activities comprise the organization and implementation of field sampling campaigns, planning, implementation and evaluation of laboratory experiments, the coordination with university-internal and external project partners, presentations at national and international conferences and the preparation of publications.
PhD thesis preparation is possible.
