The TU Dres­den is one of ele­ven Ger­man uni­ver­si­ties that were iden­ti­fied as an “excel­lence uni­ver­sity”. TUD has about 36.500 stu­dents and almost 5319 employees, 507 pro­fes­sors among them, and, thus, is the lar­gest uni­ver­sity in Sax­ony, today.

Having been com­mit­ted to sci­en­ces and the engi­nee­ring before the reuni­fi­ca­tion of Ger­many, TU Dres­den now is a multi-disci­pline uni­ver­sity, also offe­ring huma­nities and social sci­en­ces as well as medi­cine.

Rese­arch Asso­ciate for Domain-Spe­ci­fic Com­pu­ter Archi­tec­tures

(sub­ject to per­so­nal qua­li­fi­ca­tion employees are remu­ne­ra­ted accord­ing to salary group E 13 TV-L)
The pro­ject posi­tion is star­ting as soon as pos­si­ble. The posi­tion is limi­ted until May 30, 2023 with the option for exten­sion sub­ject to fur­ther third-party fun­ded pro­jects. The period of employ­ment is gover­ned by § 2 (2) Fixed Term Rese­arch Con­tracts Act (Wis­sen­schafts­zeit­ver­trags­ge­setz – WissZeitVG).
The Chair of Adap­tive Dyna­mic Sys­tems con­ducts rese­arch in the fields of recon­fi­gura­ble com­pu­ting, net­works-on-chip (NoCs), domain-spe­ci­fic multi- and many­core archi­tec­tures, methods and algo­rithms for app­li­ca­tion par­al­le­li­za­tion, simu­la­tors and vir­tual plat­forms for app­li­ca­tion- and archi­tec­ture explo­ra­tion, hard­ware/soft­ware co-design and run­time sys­tems. Typi­cal app­li­ca­tion domains are e.g., signal-/image pro­ces­sing and machine lear­ning for robo­tics.

Work­ing field:

  • rese­arch and deve­lop­ment in desi­gning and pro­gramming domain-spe­ci­fic com­pu­ter archi­tec­tures, e.g. for machine lear­ning, signal-/image pro­ces­sing or 5G/6G app­li­ca­ti­ons
  • con­tri­bu­ting, admi­nis­tra­ting and repor­ting in (inter-)natio­nal rese­arch and deve­lop­ment pro­jects
  • pre­sen­ting results at inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces
  • close coope­ra­tion with aca­de­mic and indus­trial coope­ra­tion part­ners.

Require­ments:

  • uni­ver­sity degree (M.Sc., Diploma) in eit­her com­pu­ter sci­ence, engi­nee­ring or any rela­ted natu­ral sci­ence
  • very good pro­gramming skills in C, C++
  • high self-moti­va­tion, com­mit­ment, and fle­xi­bi­lity as well as the abi­lity to work in and con­tri­bute to an inter­na­tio­nal team
  • very good com­mand of Eng­lish (writ­ten and spo­ken) and Ger­man (optio­nal)
  • expe­ri­ence in the fol­lo­wing areas is desi­red: com­pu­ter and pro­ces­sor archi­tec­ture (e.g. RISC-V), field pro­gramm­a­ble gate arrays (FPGAs), hard­ware descrip­tion lan­guages (e.g. VHDL or Veri­log), and signal-/image pro­ces­sing and/or machine lear­ning.
