Working field:

The Process Dynamics and Operations Group is looking for a new colleague for participation in an exciting new research project on experimental design and parameter estimation using methods of Machine Learning . Specific tasks within the project are:

  • Modification and operation of an experimental test stand for dynamically operated esterification
  • Modification and extensions of a framework for parameter estimation to incorporate various ragularization methods emplying techniques from Machine Learning
  • Realization of optimal experiment designs in cooperation with partners at Fraunhofer ITWM

Requirements:

The department is based in based in chemical engineering, but candidates from other engineering disciplines and backgrounds are always welcome. Regarding the described position, we are interested in colleagues with the following qualifications:

  • Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diploma, or equivalent) in a suitable discipline (Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or similar)
  • excellent knowledge in chemical engineering, particularly on modelling of systems in chemical engineering
  • Required are experiences in design and operation of experimental test stands and in analytics of liquid phases (e.g. by HPLC or GC)
  • Good programming skills in Matlab or Python are expected


We are a very international team. Hence, language skills in English are always of help and we expect you are
  • willing to learn German
  • Autonomous, well organized applicants are preferred
