Research Intern (f/m/d)

English

SEWOH Lab

Working field:

TMG Research gGmbH is currently looking for an Intern (f/m/d) to support the SEWOH Lab, a novel applied research project focusing on digital solutions and food security strategies in Sub-Saharan Africa. This project is part of the SEWOH initiative (Sonderinitiative “Eine Welt Ohne Hunger”), financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

With only 28% of individuals in Africa using the internet, and only 19% of individuals in LDCs, it is clear that the opportunities of the digital revolution bypass major parts of the population here. In fact, risks are that those unconnected or without access to digital means will lose out on economic opportunities and will be further left behind The SEWOH Lab explores which digital solutions positively affect the opportunities of poorer population groups, and what social barriers to their uptake simultaneously need to be addressed. We explore this question for three concrete cases: Urban Nutrition, Payment for Ecosystem services and Gender and Land Rights. Based on our observations and experiences in these cases, we advise BMZ on transformation paths for achieving SDG2 and how digitalisation can play a role in these.
