We are looking to fill the position of a research assistant / PostDoc in the field of “Optimization of alternative fuel supply chains” at the earliest opportunity. In a young and highly motivated team you can expect exciting activities in the areas of research and teaching.  

Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (w/m/d)

Work­ing field:

  • Deve­lop­ment and imple­men­ta­tion of mathe­ma­ti­cal models for the pre­scrip­tive ana­ly­sis of com­plex glo­bal sup­ply chains
  • Pre­sen­ta­tion of results at inter­na­tio­nal con­fe­ren­ces
  • Pre­pa­ra­tion of sci­en­ti­fic papers for highly-ran­ked peer-reviewed jour­nals
  • Active col­la­bo­ra­tion in the Clus­ter of Excel­lence "The Fuel Sci­ence Cen­ter”, fun­ded by the Ger­man Rese­arch Foun­da­tion
  • Sup­port in tea­ching and super­vi­sion of stu­dent the­ses


  • You hold a Mas­ter’s degree or PhD in Ope­ra­ti­ons Rese­arch, Manage­ment, (Indus­trial) Engi­nee­ring, Com­pu­ter sci­ence, Mathe­ma­tics or a com­pa­ra­ble field.
  • You have pro­found know­ledge in the field of Ope­ra­ti­ons Rese­arch, both in the deve­lop­ment of mathe-mati­cal models and sol­ving these using stan­dard sol­vers (Gurobi, CPLEX or Xpress) and ide­ally in the imple­men­ta­tion of solu­tion methods.
  • You have exten­sive know­ledge of a hig­her pro­gramming lan­guage.
  • As part of your stu­dies you have acqui­red know­ledge in the areas of pro­duc­tion, logistics and sup­ply chain manage­ment.
  • Your work is cha­rac­te­ri­zed by initia­tive, self-moti­va­tion, com­mit­ment, abi­lity to work in a team, and social skills.
  • You have very good com­mand of the Eng­lish lan­guage.

What we of­fer:

The posi­tion is 2 years and is to be fil­led as soon as pos­si­ble. An exten­sion for ano­t­her year is inten­ded.

This is a full-time posi­tion.

The suc­cess­ful can­di­date has the oppor­tu­nity to pur­sue a doc­to­ral degree.

The salary cor­re­sponds to level TV-L 13.
