Paid internship (3 to 6 months) in the field of environment / Greentech / Soil-Science
As part of the development of a soil sensor for agriculture, we are looking for support in the field of soil science / environmental science / prototype testing (General information about us: see www.stenon.io).
Stenon is a start-up that is developing a mobile soil laboratory for the real-time measurement of soil parameters. We are currently testing the first prototypes before the product is ready for the market. Therefore, we are currently in an Interesting phase where we need further support to prepare and conduct ground experiments to validate the prototypes.
The current main tasks are
1. scientific work in the soil laboratory
Calibration of the sensors
Sampling and preparation
Real time measurement data comparison
Preparation and mixing of different soils
Place of work: Hauptstr. 36b, 14476 Potsdam - OT Marquardt: Research station of the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomics e.V. (ATB). A pick-up from Marquardt station is possible.
2. Field experiments:
Measuring campaigns are continuously being conducted on trial fields of the Leibniz Institute for Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) as well as on other agricultural areas.
Activities during the field experiments:
Operation of our newly developed prototype under real conditions
Assistance in the design and execution of experiments
Documentation of the running experiments
Workplace: Großbeeren (Theodor-Echtermeyer-Weg 1), on a nearby experimental field or changing locations in different fields. Transport to and from Potsdam or pick-up from the train station in Großbeeren is guaranteed
3. In the office:
The documentation of measurement data, the analysis of analysis data and the research on current environmental science issues are tasks that are carried out continuously as needed. It is also often an opportunity to gain insights into the other areas of stenon. In our hardware lab you can learn how the devices are assembled and improved. In the software department, you gain insights into the IT structures and processes that make it possible to save, process, forward and visualize the data. In the data science department, you can learn how to model soil parameters using the sensor data measured in the field.
A background in environmental science is desirable but not a must.
The field experiments take place outside, which is why you should like to work in the open air. Furthermore, you should be able to work conscientiously, goal-oriented and structured.
