Uni­ver­sity Pro­fes­sor - salary grade W3

in the field of "Remote Sens­ing Image Ana­lysis".

The pos­i­tion is ini­tially fun­ded for five years by the female pro­fess­ors' pro­gram of the Fed­eral Min­istry of Edu­ca­tion and Research to pro­mote equal­ity between women and men in sci­ence and research at Ger­man uni­versit­ies.

Work­ing field:

Teach­ing and research in Remote Sens­ing with a par­tic­u­lar focus on meth­ods from big data ana­lysis and machine learn­ing. Par­tic­u­larly wanted are exper­i­ences with meth­ods and tools for eval­u­ation of image data, fea­ture extrac­tion, exact and scal­able inform­a­tion retrieval, image data integ­ra­tion, and bench­mark archives.


Suc­cess­ful applic­ants must ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with § 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing a com­pleted aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (PhD), post-doc­toral lec­ture qual­i­fic­a­tion (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent sci­entific qual­i­fic­a­tion (sci­entific papers) as well as ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio (for more inform­a­tion see TUB web­site, quick access no. 144242).
Applic­ants should have very good research and teach­ing exper­i­ence prefer­ably in the area of remote sens­ing and big data meth­ods, usu­ally demon­strated by inter­na­tional pub­lic­a­tions, suc­cess­ful third party fund­ing and a rel­ev­ant teach­ing port­fo­lio. Espe­cially exper­i­ences from inter­dis­cip­lin­ary col­lab­or­a­tions in this area are desir­able.
The will­ing­ness to offer teach­ing in Ger­man as well as in Eng­lish lan­guage is also a pre­requis­ite. Good Eng­lish lan­guage skills are required. The will­ing­ness to learn Ger­man is expec­ted from Non-Ger­man speak­ing applic­ants.
The pos­i­tion includes teach­ing duties in the Bach­elor and Mas­ter pro­grams “Com­puter Sci­ence”, “Com­puter Engin­eer­ing”, Media Inform­at­ics, Media Tech­no­logy, and “Inform­a­tion Sys­tems Engin­eer­ing”.
