The interdiciplinary cluster of excellence Fuel Science Center - Adaptive Conversion Systems for Renewable Energy and Carbon Sources, is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) within framework of the Excellence Initiative at the RWTH. The overall aim is the development of innovative engine concepts for highly efficient and clean combustion, utilizing the combination of renewable electricity and bio-hybrid fuels (http://www.fuelcenter.rwth-aachen.de/go/id/irmy/?). In this context our aim is the development of adaptive catalysts and catalytic systems for the exhaust aftertreatment of advanced combustion processes.
We offer a 3-year PhD fellowship in an international and highly interdiciplinary network with fellow researchers.
Preparation of oxides, e.g. LnMO3 (Ln=lanthanide elements; M=transition metals) perovskite based materials with varied chemical compositions by liquid phase approaches.
Characterization of the prepared materials, involving among others UV/Vis spectroscopy (in reflection mode) and DRIFTS.
Investigation of the influence of microwave irradiation on the low-temperature catalytic performance.
Attending seminars and meetings within the FSC and the institute.
Presentation of results on seminars and conferences.
Holder of an University degree (Master or equivalent) in natural or materials sciences with above average scores.
Interest in innovative and interdisciplinary topics.
High level of responsibility, initiative and team spirit.
High motivation for conducting a PhD thesis.
The position is 3 years and is to be filled as soon as possible. This is a part-time position (50% of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees). In the second and the third year of employment increase to a 66% part time postion of the standard weekly hours for full-time employees ist possible.
The successful candidate has the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree.
The salary corresponds to level TV-L 13.
