The project SALSAT (Spectrum AnaLysis SATellite) developes a nanosatellite for in-orbit spectrum analysis of different communication bands. The satellite features three scientific payloads. The primary payload features a prevoiusly developed and space qualified spectrum analyzer. The device is based on Software Defined Radio technology. The payload shall be utilized for the first time on the SALSAT mission. The goal is to analyze communication frequencies in the UHF, VHF and S band and detect potential interferences. The secondary payloads are a camera in the visual spectrum as well as an novel actuator for attitude control. The software developer searched for in this job opening shall adapt the existing electronics (sub-)systems of the TUBiX10 bus satellite (developed at the TU Berlin) for the SALSAT mission. Electrical circuits of existing subsystems have to be adapted. Furthermore, the electrical hardware of the primary and secondary payloads needs to be developed. After the successfull launch of SALSAT (planned Q1/2020) a commissioning and operation phase is planned.

development, production and test of electrical subsystems (e.g. Payload Data Handling board)
o development of block diagrams, selection of components
o development of schematics and PCB layouts (routing)
o programming of firmware for PCB components (e.g. micro controllers)
o functional tests of developed circuitry / subsystems
development and test of firmware for SALSAT subsystems
verification & test of the satellite on component- and (sub-)system level
conduction of the test and launch campaign of SALSAT
successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in aerospace technology, informatics, technical informatics, electrical engineering or similar
in-depth knowledge in the field of electrical engineering and/or circuit board design
excellent skills in the creating schematics and layouts
high motivation, proactive and independent approach to work
excellent German and/or English skills
experience in the layout and routing software EAGLE or ALTIUM Designer
experience in the production and/or fitting of circuit boards
expertise in the field of signal processing (FPGAs, Mikrocontroller, Filter, FFT,…)
programming skills of firm- and/or gateware / experiences in software development
experiences in space projects, satellite technology or satellite communication
