Research Assist­ant - salary grade E13 TV-L Ber­liner Hoch­schu­len - 1st qual­i­fic­a­tion period (PhD can­did­ate)

Work­ing field:

  • Teach­ing sup­port in lec­tures and exer­cises includ­ing super­vi­sion of the com­pil­a­tion of Bach­elor and Mas­ter theses
  • Self depend­ent exe­cu­tion of numer­ical sim­u­la­tions of steady and unsteady flows in all types of thermal turbo machinery
  • Pre­par­a­tion and gen­er­a­tion of appro­pri­ate com­pu­ta­tional grids for com­plex com­pressor and tur­bine geo­met­ries
  • Adequate ana­lysis of the res­ults and deriv­a­tion of innov­at­ive con­cepts for improve­ments with respect to effect­ive­ness and effi­ciency of tur­bine and com­pressor cas­cade flows, aero­dy­namic flow sta­bil­ity as well as inter­act­ing flows
  • Tech­nical sup­port and admin­is­tra­tion of the chair’s com­puter cluster in hard­ware and soft­ware


  • Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in a rel­ev­ant dis­cip­line; above-aver­age degree desired
  • Clear focus on flow mech­an­ics as well as thermal turbo machinery
  • Pro­found know­ledge of numer­ical mod­el­ing of internal flows, advant­age­ously includ­ing fluid-struc­ture-inter­ac­tion
  • Exper­i­ence with the applic­a­tion of com­mer­cial CFD tools on the com­press­ible flow in com­pressors and tur­bines as well as in the use of CAD tools
  • Advant­age­ous is know­ledge about the aero­dy­nam­ics of tan­dem stators in com­pressors
  • Pro­fi­ciency in Linux envir­on­ments
  • Exper­i­ence in tutor­ing and teach­ing is bene­fi­cial
  • Good Eng­lish lan­guage skills are desired
