The Uni­versity Pro­fessor is an endowed chair of the "Ver­suchs- und Lehran­stalt für Brauerei e.V.".

Work­ing field:

The suc­cess­ful can­did­ate has to rep­res­ent the area of Brew­ing Sci­ence and Bever­age Tech­no­logy in its entirety in teach­ing and research. Com­pet­ence in the brew­ing sci­ence and bever­age tech­no­logy includ­ing its bio­tech­no­lo­gical and pro­cess engin­eer­ing aspects has to be con­veyed to the stu­dents.
Teach­ing respons­ib­il­it­ies will focus primar­ily on the pro­grams in B.Sc., B.Eng and M.Sc. Brew­ing Sci­ence and Bever­age Tech­no­logy. The will­ing­ness and abil­ity to teach in the Eng­lish lan­guage is a pre­requis­ite. In addi­tion, the suc­cess­ful can­did­ate should provide top­ics for and super­vise Bach­elor, Mas­ter and Doc­toral theses, which should also be open for stu­dents of food chem­istry, food tech­no­logy and bio­tech­no­logy.
The can­did­ate may addi­tion­ally be in a lead­ing pos­i­tion at a divi­sion of the Ver­suchs- und Lehran­stalt für Brauerei (VLB).


Can­did­ates should ful­fill the require­ments for appoint­ment at the pro­fessor level in com­pli­ance with
§ 100 Ber­lHG (Ber­lin Higher Edu­ca­tion Act), includ­ing a fin­ished aca­demic edu­ca­tion, qual­i­fied achieve­ments in research (PhD), post-doc­toral lec­ture qual­i­fic­a­tion (Habil­it­a­tion) or equi­val­ent qual­i­fic­a­tion (e.g. doc­u­mented by the qual­ity of sci­entific papers) and ped­ago­gical didactic qual­i­fic­a­tions, to be given proof of by a teach­ing port­fo­lio.
Teach­ing exper­i­ence, includ­ing exper­i­ence in lead­ing a large research group, a well-defined and inter­na­tion­ally excel­ling research pro­file on a cur­rent topic of brew­ing sci­ence and bever­age tech­no­logy, doc­u­mented by pub­lic­a­tions in peer reviewed journ­als, are required.
Exper­i­ence in the acquis­i­tion and admin­is­tra­tion of third party-fun­ded pro­jects are a pre­requis­ite.
Exper­i­ence in work­ing with inter­dis­cip­lin­ary teams, inter­na­tional exper­i­ence and com­pet­ence in pro­mo­tion of junior and female sci­ent­ists as well as gender main­stream­ing are wel­come. For applic­ants who do not speak Ger­man, a com­mit­ment to swiftly learn the lan­guage is expec­ted. Good Eng­lish lan­guage skills are desired.
