IHP is an institute of the Leibniz Association and conducts research and development of silicon-based systems and ultra high-frequency circuits and technologies including new materials. It develops innovative solutions for application areas such as wireless and broadband communication, security, medical technology, industry 4.0, automotive industry, and aerospace. IHP employs approximately 300 people. It operates a pilot line for technological developments and the preparation of high-speed circuits with 0.13/0.25 µm BiCMOS technologies, located in a 1000 m² class 1 cleanroom.
Scientist - PhD Student/PostDoc (m/f)
in Materials Research for SiGeSn light emitting devices
The research is focused on the investigation of the optical, structural, and electrical transport properties of group IV heterostructures made of SiGeSn alloys in view of their possible use as active material in light sources integrated in the silicon technology. The investigation will be carried out mainly using a state of the art micro-photoluminescence and electroluminescence set-up, x-ray diffractometers, micro-Raman spectroscope, and Hall measurement set-up
Master degree or a PhD in the relevant field,
Strong background in solid state physics (in particular optoe-lectronics),
Knowledge of the related material characterization techniques (in particular photoluminescence and X-ray diffraction etc.)
Expected to be highly motivated with very good experimental and theoretical skills
Very good oral and written skills in English
