Work­ing field:

Research and teach­ing duties within the Research Cen­ter MATH­EON „Math­em­at­ics for key tech­no­lo­gies: mod­el­ling, sim­u­la­tion and optim­iz­a­tion of real-world pro­cesses“ of the insti­tute of math­em­at­ics (usu­ally within the junior research group "Uncer­tainty Quan­ti­fic­a­tion"); teach­ing duties of 4 SWS in case of full-time employ­ment.


Suc­cess­fully com­pleted uni­versity degree (Mas­ter, Dip­lom or equi­val­ent) in Math­em­at­ics; required is a strong back­ground in the­ory and numer­ics of stochastic par­tial dif­fer­en­tial equa­tions; in par­tic­u­lar in non­lin­ear evol­u­tion equa­tions; stand­ard meth­ods of func­tional ana­lysis; Galer­kin finite ele­ment meth­ods and tem­poral dis­cret­isa­tion meth­ods; stochastic ana­lysis of stochastic pro­cesses in infin­ite dimen­sions. Fur­ther required are flu­ent pro­fi­ciency in spoken and writ­ten Eng­lish and Ger­man and a cooper­at­ive, col­legial work­ing style. In addi­tion, exper­i­ence with sci­entific com­put­ing in Python and FEn­iCS is highly desir­able.
