Hostwriter gUG is a vibrant, growing community dedicated to creating a more inclusive and diverse global media landscape. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to support our distribution and content team for Unbias the News, our global newsroom: www.unbiasthenews.org. The internship can be tailored to have a more extensive focus on either social media content or marketing, though the ideal candidate is interested in both areas.

This internship provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media management, video editing, and SEO marketing across various platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, short-form video content, and BlueSky. You will work in an international, multilingual environment, with English as the primary working language, though knowledge of German is a plus.

Your Responsibilities:
Manage and create content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, bluesky, and video short formats)
Edit and optimize video content for social media, ensuring it aligns with brand messaging and is optimized for SEO
Help develop and execute strategies to grow social media presence and increase engagement.
Craft engaging captions, hashtags, and metadata to improve the visibility and reach of posts and videos.
Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics and contribute ideas to improve content performance.
Stay up to date with social media trends and assist in implementing these trends to enhance content reach.

Requirements:

Proficiency in video editing (experience with software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar is required)
Basic understanding of SEO principles and how they apply to social media
Proficiency in English (spoken and written); knowledge of German is a plus
Strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to work independently
Excellent organizational skills and time management
Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, BlueSky, etc.) and current trends
Interest in non-profit work and social impact
Availability for a minimum of 3 months (part-time preferred)
Mandatory internship as part of a course of study or training, enrolled at a German university
