The research group “Landscape Ecohydrology” led by Prof Doerthe Tetzlaff in the Department of Ecohydrology & Biogeochemistry of IGB in Berlin (Friedrichshagen), in collaboration with the Department of Geography at the University of Costa Rica led by Prof Christian Birkel, is inviting applications for a Student Assistant (39 hours/month) starting from 01.11.2024. The student assistant position is part of the DFG funded project “ECCO: ECohydrological feedbacks of tropical soil-plant-atmosphere COnnectivity” which aims to achieve a novel integrated, cross-scale understanding of the partitioning of incoming precipitation in tropical systems affected by land cover change.
You will be supporting an international team of scientists from the University of Costa Rica, the University of Tokyo and the University of Aberdeen with mostly hydrometeorological data analysis (programming skills are a plus), GIS mapping, and remotely sensed land cover data, among other more specific tasks related to climate and hydrology. This position is mainly desk based.

Salary is paid according to the German salary scheme for student assistantships (39 hours/month). The assistantship is initially limited to 24 months, but extensions are possible. Upon interest, this assistantship can be linked to a dissertation project.
