Tech­ni­sche Infor­ma­ti­ons­bi­blio­thek (TIB) - Pro­gram Area C, Rese­arch and Devel­op­ment

TIB, being part of the Leib­niz Rese­arch Asso­ci­ation, is with around 600 employ­ees one of the lar­gest tech­nical inform­a­tion cen­tres in Ger­many, hav­ing three main func­tions:
1. Act­ing in the capa­city of the Leib­niz Inform­a­tion Centre for Sci­ence and Tech­no­logy, our for­ward-look­ing ser­vices secure the infra­struc­tural require­ments for pro­vid­ing rese­arch­ers in sci­ence and indus­try with high-qual­ity inform­a­tion and lit­er­at­ure.
2. Car­ry­ing out cut­ting edge rese­arch to fur­ther expand TIB’s role as a Ger­man inform­a­tion centre for the digit­isa­tion of sci­ence and tech­no­logy.
3. Offer lib­rary ser­vices for the Leib­niz Uni­ver­sity Han­nover.

Working field:

Your chal­lenge
Your main task will be to estab­lish a basic offer within the pro­ject „Basisange­bot von Dienstleis­tun­gen zum Forschungs­dat­en­man­age­ment in Nieder­sach­sen“, which is fun­ded by the Min­istry of Sci­ence and Cul­ture of Lower Sax­ony (MWK). In addi­tion, you will be involved in other pro­jects of the research area "Cur­a­tion and Com­munity Build­ing" at TIB.

Your tasks will focus on
  • Cre­ation and imple­ment­a­tion of inform­a­tion events and train­ing courses for the basic offer of ser­vices for research data man­age­ment in Lower Sax­ony, in coordin­a­tion with the sci­entific ser­vice of the TIB:
  • Announce­ment of the basic offer
  • Intro­duc­tion of users to the basic offer
  • Trans­fer of com­pet­en­cies to users for know­ledge trans­fer/qual­i­fic­a­tion RDM
  • Sup­port of the devel­op­ment teams of the ser­vices Open Research Know­ledge Graph (ORKG), Ter­min­o­logy Ser­vice (TS) and Wiki­base:
  • Eli­cit­ing needs regard­ing the ser­vices for their integ­ra­tion into the Aca­demic Cloud Nieder­sach­sen
  • Com­mu­nic­a­tion of the require­ments between the parties involved
  • Design and devel­op­ment of a joint strategy for research data man­age­ment in the state of Lower Sax­ony:
  • Coordin­a­tion of the cooper­a­tion with decent­ral­ized con­sult­ing com­pet­ences at uni­versit­ies
  • Sup­port of innov­a­tion pro­jects for the devel­op­ment of research data man­age­ment solu­tions with users
  • Devel­op­ing strategies and approaches for eval­u­at­ing data qual­ity and data ana­lysis in ORKG


Your qual­it­ies
  • You have a com­pleted aca­demic uni­versity degree (Mas­ter's degree or equi­val­ent) in a rel­ev­ant field of study such as com­puter sci­ence, inform­a­tion sci­ence, data sci­ence or a related field.
  • Excel­lent know­ledge of research data man­age­ment is required.
  • Very good present­a­tion and com­mu­nic­a­tion skills.
  • Very good writ­ten and spoken Ger­man and Eng­lish skills are required.
  • Basic know­ledge of pro­ject man­age­ment and soft­ware devel­op­ment pro­cesses is expec­ted.

Desir­able addi­tions to your pro­file
  • Know­ledge regard­ing know­ledge graphs, semantics and onto­lo­gies.
  • Exper­i­ence with Medi­aWiki and Wiki­base (JavaS­cript and PHP).

The pos­i­tion is ini­tially lim­ited to two years with envi­sioned exten­sion. The reg­u­lar weekly work­ing time is 39.8 hours (full-time). The pos­i­tion is only suit­able for part-time work to a lim­ited extent. The remu­ner­a­tion is based on pay scale group 13 TV-L.
