Charité - Neurowissenschaftliches Forschungszentrum

We are an interdisciplinary lab at the Neuroscience Research Center

Fish Transgenesis Technician

Working field:

Join us in establishing Danionella, a miniature singing fish, as a model organism in neuroscience. Our lab is part of the Einstein Center for Neurosciences and is located on the Charité and Humboldt University campus in the center of Berlin.

Main activities
  • Help develop a new model organism by coordinating transgenesis efforts
  • Establish transgenic fish lines
  • Microinjection into single-cell stage fish embryos (Tol2 or CRISPR/Cas9)
  • Screening and breeding of transgenic fish
  • Maintenance and characterization of fish lines
  • Basic molecular biology tasks (PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA/RNA isolation)

Your profile
  • An undergraduate degree in life sciences and/or training as technician
  • Several years of practical experience with transgenesis (preferably in zebrafish)
  • Experience with basic molecular biology techniques
  • Self-motivated, organized, efficient, science-driven and a team worker
  • Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English

Environment & salary
  • Live in a global city that welcomes foreigners
  • Family friendly city: free daycare, kindergarten and school
  • Salary level E9 (annual salary in the range of ~45 k€, depending on level of qualification)

Please email your application (cover letter; CV; contact details for references; certificates / transcripts) as one PDF to and include "[transgenesis2021]" in the email subject. See for more information.
