"Sys­tem of the Future" (Geo­gra­phic Inform­a­tion Sci­ence) - Intern or work­ing stu­dent (f/m/d)

Take part in shap­ing the energy sys­tem bey­ond 2030 in a pro­act­ive think tank.

Work­ing field:

We seek for ans­wers to the most urgent ques­tions in order to path the way to full decar­bon­isa­tion of the energy sys­tem. With stra­tegic guid­ance of our col­leagues, you will rese­arch and shape out­stand­ing con­cepts for a lead­ing TSO in Europe.

Your tasks:

  • Con­trib­ute to our off­shore mar­ket intel­li­gence with help of geo data ana­lysis,
  • Obtain and pro­cess a wide range of off­shore rela­ted geo data and per­form visual ana­lyt­ics on it,
  • Imple­ment par­ti­tion­ing and multi cri­teria ana­lysis to facil­it­ate our stud­ies,
  • Deve­lop ideas to pre­sent your res­ults with help of a web pro­ces­sing ser­vice,
  • Sup­port other depart­ments in invest­ig­a­tion of future power sys­tem devel­op­ment (e.g. rela­ted to off­shore grid devel­op­ment, pro­ject idea­tion) and col­lab­or­ate both on tech­nical solu­tions and busi­ness devel­op­ment,
  • Chance to per­form small sim­u­la­tions or quick ana­lysis on Europe's future energy sys­tem to quan­tify your find­ings,
  • Final­ise reports and draft out­stand­ing sli­des as pre­par­a­tion for work­shops and meet­ings.


  • You are pur­su­ing your mas­ter's degree in Geo Inform­a­tion Sci­ence, Car­to­gra­phy or other Com­puter Sci­ence rela­ted to geo-data pro­ces­sing. Altern­at­ively you have other suf­fi­cient work exper­i­ence in that field,
  • You have pas­sion for energy trans­ition (power sys­tems, off­shore wind power etc.),
  • You have exper­i­ence in GIS soft­ware (pre­fer­ably QGIS), data­base man­age­ment (pre­fer­ably SQL) and Open­GIS web ser­vices,
  • You are cre­at­ive, innov­at­ive, pro­act­ive and res­ult dri­ven as well as have ana­lyt­ical and abs­tract reas­on­ing,
  • Have very good know­ledge of MS Office app­lic­a­tions,
  • Very good Eng­lish skills and good know­ledge of spo­ken and writ­ten Ger­man.

Exper­i­ence in data sci­ence (with Mat­lab, R or Python) as well as know­ledge of Dutch and French make your app­lic­a­tion par­tic­u­larly inter­est­ing for us.
